  1. I currently run an Intel based desktop which is about 4 years old. CPU is I5 6600K and MB is ASUS 170-A. System is running satisfactorily, with one exception-I believe that the on-board audio has become defective, but I don’t wish to buy a sound card. As you can probably see, my computing needs are pretty tame and really don’t game much. Middle of-the-pack performance with reliability is good enough for me.
An idea I have come up with is to buy the following new components:
a new MB, an ASUS TUF Z590 PLUS with WiFi,
a new CPU, an Intel I5 11400, and
a new CPU cooler, a Noctua or a Phaneks brand.
and install these in my original case, an ATX Phanteks 40s, because I like it. Also, I want to use some of my original components to save money on my “new“ build because these components are good/compatible. For example, I would use my memory, 2X8 GB of Ripjaws 3200 DDR4, my GPU card, a Turbo GTX 1070 and my power supply which is a EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2. I figure that I could get away with spending maybe $750 to make this all happen and would end up with a pretty good, and a current system.
    My questions are as follows:
1/ Does this plan to buy new/necessary components and reuse other, original build components, make sense, and
2/ do you think my choice of MB is a good choice?
That particular MB seems to have a pretty good reputation but I’ve seen a few bad reviews that have frightened me. Over the years I have had pretty good luck with my MB’s so maybe I’m worrying for nothing.

    1. Hey Martin,
There is no problem is using old parts in a new system. You are already having good peripherals with you. There is no need to buy a new ram, SPU, or PSU.
Secondly, ASUS TUFF series motherboards are very good, you can surely go with the model you selected. Regarding reviews don’t worry about a few negative reviews, cause there are instances where the error occurs in the motherboard due to wrong usage or wrong installation of the user.
