It’s 2021 and nobody uses an optical CD/DVD drive to consume media or install important motherboard or hardware drivers in their system. But many of us repair our old desktop computers, even laptops. In these devices, the CD/DVD optical drive might be present.
So, they can easily install the drivers using the optical CD drive, or they can download it from the official manufacturer’s website itself, in case of a desktop, to replace incorrect drivers or update the driver version. Laptop users can also do that from the official manufacturer’s website by typing the model number of their physical device. There’s also another way, you can use a USB stick to install it manually. Don’t worry we will discuss all of these in detail.
Firstly, if you are new in this field then you should know all the important driver files and why it is required. If you know all these basics things, then it will be easier for you when you install these. Drivers are a set of files or instructions which instruct your operating system how to interact with the other important hardware.
There are many additional drivers or driver files in a modern desktop-like RGB LEDs controller driver. For example, in ASUS motherboard they are known as Aura Sync, printer drivers, Wi-Fi drivers, etc.
Now, we are going to tell, how to find the motherboard drivers online from the official manufacturer’s website itself. For that, you should know the motherboard model name. If you are new in this field, then we will help you to do the same. If you have a desktop then try to find the motherboard packaging box, here you will find the motherboard name.
If you have lost the packaging box, then don’t worry we have another solution for that, which will work both on the desktop and the laptop. Just open your system and run the Command prompt, then type this comment wmic baseboard get product,Manufacturer and you will find the model name of your motherboard.
Now, open any of your browsers and search the model name of the motherboard. Assume that the model name of the motherboard is MSI B450 Tomahawk. Then, in the search result, click on the official manufacturer’s website. If your motherboard manufacturer is MSI then, click on www.msi.com or if your motherboard manufacturer is ASUS, then click on www.asus.com and do this according to the motherboard manufacturer.
In our case, the motherboard model is MSI B450 Tomahawk, so we will go with the first link.
Then, you will find the Drivers section, click on that and select the operating system with the architecture. In our case, the system is running in Windows 10-64 bit. So, we will select the first option, if you are using windows 8 or 7, then select that.
Now, a new page will open and you will find all the list of drivers and device drivers like onboard SATA drivers, system and chipset drivers, VGA graphics and all the other drivers as well. Whatever you need just click on the right side install button to download those drivers in your system.
Now, if you have a laptop, then you just have to do the same thing. In our case, we have an HP laptop and we want to install the drivers for our laptop. To do the same, open any of your browsers and type the laptop manufacturer name and search. You will notice their official website link, click on that.
After entering into the link, you have to type the model number or serial number, whatever they want, to recognize your exact device. You have to type and search the model’s name and select the driver you want to install for your system.
If you have downloaded the driver installation file, you have to install them now setup process is not enough tough. For that, just go to the download location and try to find the file you have just downloaded. The file is downloaded in ZIP format. So, you have to unzip the file and then you have to install the set-up file by tapping on Run as administrator.
After clicking on the Extract Files option, it will generate a general folder, double click on that to enter it into the folder.
Now, you will find the set-up file that you have to install in your system. Just right-click and select the second option Run as Administrator.
Now, an installation window will open in front of you. Accept the license agreement and click on Next, to forward the installation process. It will take a couple of minutes depending upon your hardware configuration. If you have a better RAM and CPU along with SSD, then it will take less time.
After successful installation, you have to restart the system to make changes in your computer. The boot-up time may take some more time also. So, be patient and wait until it restarts properly.
Installing motherboard drivers from a USB stick is a very easy and simple method. In case, you don’t have an active internet connection or if you don’t have an optical CD/DVD drive in your system, then you can use USB sticks or USB drives to install your important motherboard drivers in your system. You can download it from any computer Cybercafé center or from your friend who has an active internet connection.
Download the driver installation file from the internet same as mentioned above and copy the set-up file in the USB drive. Now connect the USB Stick to your desktop or laptop and copy to your local PC drive and try to install as we have mentioned above.
Ans: Of course, the motherboard needs driver software to do interactions among your operating system and chipset, graphics, onboard audio, and many more hardware components. If there is no driver installed in your system, then your system is unable to do some basic operations like your sound system will not work properly or your display brightness will not increase or decrease or any unusual problem like this may occur.
