What Does an Orange Light on My Motherboard Mean?

If the heatsink is screwed too tightly, you may get to see the orange light to turn up.

  • Wrong placement of RAM stick

While inserting the RAM stick into the slot, you might not have inserted it correctly. Check the gap in the stick and make sure that it is aligned rightly with the RAM slot.

  • Loose wire connection or hardware fitment

You might experience a loose connection between your hardware and motherboard. This may consequently yield you the orange light.

This is because there could be times when you see that the orange light is on, even when nothing went wrong with your PC. Here is a step-by-step guide for you to fix the orange light issue from your motherboard:

  • Locate the trouble

Remove all the components from your motherboard such as the RAM, GPU, and storage devices too. Next, remove the case accessories from your motherboard, and install a RAM stick to your motherboard so as to ensure that it’s running! Once your system is on, the problem might be with your motherboard if you see that the orange light is lit constantly. On the contrary, if you do not get to see the orange light, the issue could be with either your RAM, GPU or any of your storage devices.

  • Remove and re-insert the RAM stick

Your system will obviously not get to detect the RAM if you haven’t set it right! In such a scenario, simply clean the RAM slot with a blower, or maybe with the help of running alcohol. Now, once the RAM stick dries up, install it back to the RAM slot. Just ensure that you have aligned the stick with that of the motherboard slot.
